Micki has been coaching for 30 years, and has been the Skating Director at Novi for the past 12 years. She is a former National and International Competitor. She was a 3 time Regional Gold Medalist, and Midwestern Sectional Gold Medalist. She is a Gold Medalist in Freestyle and MIF, and was a principal skater for “Disney on Ice”. She has coached skaters from Learn to Skate through National Competitors.

Julie Mitts
Resident Coach

PSA, USFSA Certified & Certified Personal Trainer
Julie has been coaching for 21 years. She is a Gold Medalist in Freestyle and MIF, and is a Sectional Competitor at the Senior Level. She has coached skaters through their Senior Freestyle, Senior Moves, and has coached Off-Ice Training for Synchro Teams as well as the SCN Skaters. She coaches all levels of skaters from beginners to competitive. Julie has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Michigan in Sports Journalism.

Kim Herbert

Kim has been coaching for 38 years. She has coached Regional Medalists in Freestyle, Pairs, and Dance, as well as a Jr. National Intermediate Dance Team. Kim believes in an enthusiastic, positive approach with all levels of skaters, along with constantly pushing students to achieve their goals. Kim was recently awarded the 2015, and the 2016 “Basic Skills Coach of the Year” by USFS.

Tammie Lowery

Tammie has been coaching for 28 years. She has coached skaters through their Senior MIF and Junior Freestyle tests. She has achieved the ISI Freestyle 8 Test, 7thFigure Test, Junior Freestyle, and Silver Dances. Her main goal is to instill a love and passion for Figure Skating, teaching skaters the importance of hard work, commitment and skills they can use throughout their lives.

Amy Laser
Resident Coach
Lessons: Freestyle, MIF, Sychro, & Hockey/Power-skating
PSA & USFSA Certified
Amy has been coaching for 13 years. She is a Gold Medalist in Freestyle, MIF, and Dance. In Synchronized Skating, she is a 12 time National competitor, and 9 time Team USA competitor, a National Gold Medalist and World Bronze Medalist. Amy is also the Coach of a Beginner 1 Synchronized Skating team. She believes that success can be achieved in an enjoyable atmosphere, while instilling confidence and self-discipline. Amy has a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from Eastern Michigan University and an Associate’s Degree in Exercise Science from Oakland Community College. She is currently pursuing her degree in Physical Therapy as well.

Katrina Finkelstein
Resident Coach
Lessons: Freestyle, Moves in the Field, Power-Skating, Hockey, and Choreography
PSA & USFSA Certified
Katrina has been coaching for 8 years. She is a gold medalist in MIF and a bronze medalist in Freestyle. She was a regional competitor for the Skating Club of Novi, and skated for the University of Michigan’s Figure Skating Team in Ann Arbor, where she has gone to the Intercollegiate National Championships all four years. Katrina coaches skaters of all levels and believes they all have the potential to be successful on the ice; she hopes to help them achieve any and all goals they have while instilling a love of skating.
